Though I coached the soloist, Angela Tunstall, for these productions, I was actually hospitalised at Royal Worcester Hospital and unable to be fully involved. One of my postgraduate students, Steve Halfyard, stood in for me, and with her own conceptions, as stage director.
We did mount a first production in 1987 at the Drama Barn at Birmingham University, as part of my Music-theatre course. So the original conception and motivation was mine, alongside my persuadable colleague, Jonty Harrsion. Angela Tunstall was also the soprano soloist for that production.
